Reducing late-stage attrition is a key
goal in ensuring successful and economically feasible drug
development. The ability to select the highest quality
candidates for further development requires better pre-clinical
models, translational biomarkers and imaging, predictive
modeling, earlier POC studies, and an iterative process where
clinical information can feed back into basic research to
improve decision making. The Translational Medicine
meeting will gather decision makers from big pharma, biotech,
academia, technology providers and CROs to discuss
implementation strategies, models and case studies in bridging
the pre-clinical/clinical interface.
Topics to be covered include:
-
Strategies to reduce late-stage
attrition
-
Biomarkers to enable go/no-go
decisions
-
ROI on enabling technologies
-
Model-based drug development
-
Evaluating and improving
pre-clinical models
-
Rational patient selection
-
Biomarker translation from animal
to FIH studies
-
Role of consortia in translational
medicine
-
Integrating pre-clinical and
clinical information
-
Iterative learning between clinical
and pre-clinical development
-
Translational imaging
-
Phase 0 and adaptive trial design
